Meet Earl Redcliffe, the visionary Executive Producer at MR Film. Beginning his filmmaking journey at 19, Earl has risen from a trainee runner to the owner of one of Cape Town’s most successful black-owned production companies. His collaborations with industry stalwarts such as Prettybird, Division Global, and Tool of North America have resulted in impactful campaigns and commercials, showcasing his dedication to excellence. Notable achievements include the Guinness “La Sapeur” documentary in the Congo and the captivating Fitbit Stories spot by Floyd Russ. Earl’s unwavering commitment to storytelling and creativity continues to shape the landscape of commercial production.

Claudia brings 30 years of film production experience and a famously calm demeanour to her role as Head of Production at MR Film. She leads with a steady hand, sharp eye, a dose of dry wit and a healthy respect for the chaos that often comes with great creative work. A parochial Capetonian with an Honours degree from UCT in Languages & Literature, she’s worked across continents, time zones, and budget ranges, but chooses to stick close to the mountain and sea. She’s built a career spanning local and international campaigns, agency-side producing, a year of lecturing film students, and even a Cannes Lions Grand Prix win, but she’s just as proud of her ability to keep a team calm when the client feedback hits late on a Friday. Off-set, she manages a menagerie of two teens, two dogs and a couple of rabbits — so no production brief really scares her.

Mel began her production career in London in 1993 with the acclaimed production company Spots Films. Over the past three decades, she has produced international commercials for leading global brands. Since relocating to Cape Town in 2005, Mel has become a highly respected producer, working with top service companies before joining Mr. Film in December 2019. At Mr. Film, Mel has delivered numerous large-scale productions while also spearheading the company’s sustainability and diversity initiatives by introducing greener production practices and developing mentorship opportunities for students entering the industry. Calm, dedicated and solutions driven, she is valued for her ability to deliver world class productions with creativity and consistency to deliver impactful productions for clients. When she’s not on set, you’ll usually find Mel at the beach embracing her love of cold-water swimming.
